Ensuring you take a leadership position on BrexIT – what’s your IT strategy?

Date: 28th Sep 2016

Venue: The Lanesborough, Hyde Park Corner, London SW1X 7TA

Whether you are one month, six months or one year into an IT project (or have put your next major IT move on hold) the UK’s exit from Europe is now a major strategy and execution consideration.

Today the post-BrexIT relationship between the UK and the EU is a complete unknown.

Just about the only thing we know for certain is that once activated Article 50 will take up to two years.

Yet amid all this uncertainty IT leaders across all sectors will continue to be tasked with ensuring platforms and infrastructure are flexible and responsive to any eventuality while delivering full compliance along with responsiveness to business changes in mobile, IOT and security.

All at a lower visible cost.

For example as the UK and EU diverge Europe will implement the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). What will this mean for UK companies?

“If BrexIT isn’t top of mind, it should be. Companies need to be thinking about how Brexit changes GDPR. It could negate it if Brexit is complete and drastic, or do nothing at all if GDPR forms part of the UK’s “special relationship” with the EU. And, of course, it could mean everything in between!
-Len Padilla, NTT Communications VP Strategy EMEA.

The London financial services sector has been identified at the facing the greatest risk and potentially the greatest upheaval.

Conversely it has been reported that, “Continental consumers potentially stand to lose more than UK consumers in terms of the cross-border provision of financial services in the event of a Brexit, which could be a driver for the UK being given a special deal to permit access to continue.” Either way, the implications for IT investments could not be more serious.
