According to figures from the Enterprise Strategy Group, 57 per cent of European organisations have pulled an application from a cloud or SaaS service provider returning it on-premise or a conventional data centre.
Despite the uncontested benefits cloud can bring – elasticity, scalability and cost saving – migration can go wrong. Without proper knowledge of workload behaviour, a move to the cloud – especially a ‘lift and shift’ migration – is fraught with risks: sub-optimal performance, over-provisioning and unnecessary costs among them.
That’s why we’ve devoted this CBR Dining Club event, in association with Virtual Instruments, to cloud migration readiness. During the evening we’ll consider the questions organisations need to ask to ensure success:
• Will my application perform as expected in a public cloud?
• How much will it approximately cost me to run my applications in a public cloud?

• Which cloud service provider is the best choice for my applications?
We’ll discuss the tools, methodologies and approaches – including optimal CPU, memory and storage configurations for each workload – designed to mitigate risk. Finally, given that not all workloads and applications are suitable for cloud migration, we’ll ask: how do you identify those that are?
